Financial Donations

The best way to support Second Stitch is by making a financial donation. As a registered charity under VICSEG New Futures, all donations above $2 are tax-deductible. Your contribution helps us deliver vital support services to our student cohort and Seamstresses.

If you would like to donate a larger amount please email info@secondstitch.org.au

Material Donations

Donating fabric and sewing supplies directly provides assistance to our staff and students.

We rely heavily on the kindness and compassion of our local community, and are so thankful for the regular fabric donations that we receive. Donated fabric supplies provide assistance to our alterations and repairs team, and to our Cert III Textiles students. Many of our students don't have the expendable income for fabric and haberdashery, and having access to our storeroom directly enriches their tertiary education.

Fabric & Sewing Supplies

We accept fabric donations of 2+ meters, preferably on the roll. We love fabrics in natural fibers and block colors, think linens, heavy and light weight cottons, velvets, along with fabrics suited for soft furnishings, personal accessories and apparel. We will also happily accept cotton thread, zips, elastic, trims, and haberdashery. If you think you have something suitable, please send an image of your collection to info@secondstitch.org.au, or get in touch with our studio to see what items we are currently able to accept.

Please ensure all fabrics and supplies donated are clean, without faults or damage. We are unable to accept scrap or cut pieces, half-assembled projects or used linens and clothing.

Machines

Domestic sewing machines and overlockers, that are in good working order and have all their correct attachments — such as foot pedals — are welcome donations.

These can either be used by Second Stitch during workshops or gifted on to our students.

Industrial straight sewers and overlockers are also accepted however the ability to collect them may not always be possible.

Please email an image of the machine/s you would like to donate to info@secondstitch.org.au

Volunteer

Donating your time is also a huge helping hand. Send us a copy of your resume and how you would like to help, to an email at info@secondstitch.org.au and we'll be in touch!

Please also make sure all donations are clean, not dusty, and neatly packed. We spend many hours sorting donations, and taking those initial steps really helps our staff. Thank you!
